CPD Programme for Solicitors & Others

Defacto Spouse Visa

Hong Kong only recognises traditional ‘legal dependents’ (heterosexual spouse and unmarried children under the age of 18) for dependent visas. If your partner as principal visa holder can demonstrate capacity to support you in Hong Kong, you can apply for a prolonged visitor visa. It allows the holder to remain in Hong Kong for an extended time, but they may not work, join in, or establish a business, or undertake study.
