How Important Are Photographs When Documenting Relationship Bona Fides in a Same Sex Partner Visa Application for Hong Kong?
Posted in Family Visas, The Hong Kong Visa Geeza, Your Question Answered /
It’s quite rare in most types of family visa applications that a single supporting document will definitively determine success or refusal.
Of course, if you claim to be married or a legal parent (for example) and seeking a legal dependant’s visa, marriage and birth certificates are an absolute prerequisite to establish proof of legal relationship. But where does that leave same sex partners who don’t qualify (alas) for this type of visa?
QUESTION
We are about to file for the long term visitor visa so that I can live in Hong Kong with my husband (married in the US when he was living there).
He’s a native of Hong Kong.
We’ve been together for 6 years, married for 3, but we have only a few photos of each other, and they’re all digital and so – undated.
The documentation of our relationship is quite solid – joint bank accounts, marriage certificate, testimony of family, proof that he was living with me in the US – but the photo issue is bothering me.
How important is it?
Thanks for all your great information!
